Iran’s population will be above 87 million in 16 years: UN

Iran Population
The United Nations has predicted that Iran’s population will rise to over 87 million in the next 16 years.

Based on the latest report provided by the Population Department of the UN, Iran currently has a population of about 74.196 million and the figure is projected to go up to 87,134 million and 96,975 million in 2025 and 2050 respectively.

According to the report, the urban population accounts for 69 percent of Iran’s population and the people below the age of 15 make up 24 percent of the nation. Those above the age of 60 compose only 7 percent of the population, the report added.

 

It said about 34 children under the age of 5 will die in every 1000 births and there is a life expectancy of 71 years at the birth time.
