New virus targets Apple for MAC attack

The attacks on Macs could be caused by Apple's rising star status in the digital jukebox world with its iTunes.
Security software firm Intego disclosed the new virus on Thursday, saying it had discovered it in a download study from various parts of the world.
The yet-to-be-named virus attacks Apple's new operating system, Mac OS X.
"This is the first native Mac OS virus we've found," Brian Davis, Intego's sales manager, said.
Intego is owned by British software giant Misys. It is a leading provider of Macintosh security software.
The company, which sells a barrier software for about $60, said it is developing more upgrade products to protect against any dangerous aspects of music downloads. Davis said the virus at first may not do anything to your computers, and will provide music as it's intended.
But when the file is double-clicked, it can awaken a damaging virus that can do any of the following: delete your personal files; spread through e-mail to others; and infect other MP3, JPEG, GIF or QuickTime files.
Davis said the virus is "absolutely not a hoax."
"This is a major security risk. As far as we know, this Trojan horse is benign today, but nothing prevents a malicious hacker from harming you. As Apple becomes more visible, it become a more attractive target," he said.
